GeneFix DNA Saliva Microbiome Collection

Microbial studies have shown that the balance of flora in saliva, plaques, skin and intestine, is a key indicator of health. Traditional methods of collection and storage of microbiome samples often include freezing, which usually present problems related to transport and storage. 

The new GeneFiX ™ Saliva DNA Microbiome Collection device allows to solve these problems, facilitating the collection of samples and subsequent extraction of human microbial DNA. 

The collector is preloaded with a non-toxic stabilizing buffer and has a funnel that allows the entrance of saliva directly into the tube. The unique design of the funnel prevents spillages and flow back. Once it’s filled as indicated on the tube, the funnel is removed.

The tubes are tested for a transfer to 95 KPa to allow proper shipment and storage. In addition, the microbial DNA is perfectly preserved at room temperature in the pre-filled buffer for at least 1 year. Stabilization is instantaneous and the buffer prevents bacterial growth, so the sample accurately reflects the oral microbiome at the time of sampling

To obtain the optimal microbiotic DNA, it is recommended to use the Saliva Prep2 kit (GSPN), a quick and easy to use kit that produces a high yield of microbial DNA levels compared to other commonly available kits.
