Lactose intolerance - LCT Mutation
Lactose is metabolized by lactase in enterocytes. Lactose intolerance occurs when lactase activity is reduced or non-existent , this being more common in adults. Family studies have shown that adult lactose deficiency is a autosomal recessive trait. Two polymorphisms, C-13910T and G-22018A, located upstream of the lactasa gene (LTC) were recently identified.
LCT-mutation kit is a complete, fast and reliable system for allelic discrimination of LTC C-13910T and G-22018A through real time PCR.
