The MucorGenius® kit is designed for the detection of Mucorales species in clinical respiratory samples, such as bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), and biopsies/paraffin (FFPE). This fungal infection, mainly caused by genera such as Rhizopus, Mucor, and Lichtheimia, is one of the main causes of mucormycosis, a serious pathology, especially in immunocompromised patients.
Real‑time PCR with the MucorGenius® kit allows rapid and highly sensitive detection of Mucorales species, with the advantage that prior culture is not required. This significantly reduces diagnosis time and allows earlier therapeutic intervention, which can improve patient prognosis.
The assay uses a pan-Mucorales probe, which detects multiple species of this group, and an internal control to ensure test quality. It is compatible with various real‑time PCR instruments.
