The use of Respiratory Virus Oligo Panel probes with Illumina’s RNA Prep with Enrichment reagents enables next-generation sequencing (NGS) data that can confirm the presence of different viruses in the sample and expand variant analysis and epidemiological monitoring studies.
Target enrichment by capture methods allows highly sensitive detection, without requiring large read depth needed for sequencing (as with shotgun metagenomics studies).
In addition, the oligoprobes used in hybrid capture protocols remain effective even in highly mutagenic regions, allowing targeting of rapidly evolving viruses such as RNA viruses.
